Mayor Troy Rudder said, The Mills Street Park is in London, Ky.. The Park grounds are maintained by Steve Edge, the Superintendent of Sanitation. He is employed by the city of London and has been for 11 years.
Cars need to parallel park in order to get a parking spot. It is dangerous for people getting out of the car on the driver side.
Cars drive fast on Mills Street, which is dangerous because of hitting some one especially hitting a child.
“There is no speed strips, I think there should be. That is something that needs to be addressed with the mayor,” Sgt. Travis Dotson said. Dotson, 33 has been on the London City Police department for eight years.
“There are children at play signs,” Edge said.
There are 19 sexual offenders that are registered in 40744 zip code and 21 sexual offenders in the 40741 zip code, the two zip codes are London zip codes, according to the website of the National Alert Registry. These are just the ones that are registered. .
“We have some one who goes door to door and checks on the Sexual Offenders if they are not where they are supposed to be they are arrested,” Dotson said.
“Parents need to be vigilant and watchful,” Edge said.
“The park is a family oriented place,” Dotson said. “We have had incidents to where kids burnt picnic tables but we caught them.”

“Every morning we go to the parks pick up the trash, litter and mow the grass,” Edge said. “I love my job if you don’t love what you do, you should not be doing it.”
“There maybe a skateboard park in the works,” Edge said..
“Other parks lock down at a certain hour but we don’t you would be surprised how many people you see playing volleyball at night,” Edge said.
The police do patrol the park but there are no set hours of patrol. As long as you are following traffic rules and watching for children at play the Mills Street Park will stay a safe place. Although there has been vandalism there the park is relatively safe.
