Parks are filled with history; this is true for the Levi Jackson State Park. The park is filled with a vast amount of history. The park has set up two Museums and the park is located in downtown London, Ky..
There are two different Museums, The Mountain Life Museum and The McHargue’s Mill, according to the website of the Kentucky Stake Parks.
As you drive into Levi Jackson State Park, you see the pond where people often come to feed the ducks and to have a nice picnic. There is a fork as you are taking the fork in the road; you take the fork you drive and you take in the trees and the nice sky. You come to a place that looks like an outhouse or a cabin.
It is no cabin or outhouse it is the Levi Jackson State Park Museum.
The Museum is surrounded by trees and small wooden fence. The fence is not even knee high.
The road that leads to the Museum can be driven or walked.
The park is filled an enormous amount of rich history.
“In October 3, 1786, the McNitt Party became the victims of a bloody Indian massacre in which at least 24 people were killed,” according to the website of the Kentucky State Parks. “A memorial was set up at Levi Jackson State Park.”
The Museums are built from logs. You would pass the museum if you were not looking for it. They appear to blend in with the park.
The park opened July, 1935, with over five thousand in attendance for the opening. The Museum had its opening in 1936, and it is open Thursday through Sunday closed Monday through Wednesday.
“The busiest time for the museum and the park is July and August, it is the summer and kids are out of school,” Tammy Hubbard said. Hubbard, 46 of London and works at the Museum gift shop.
The Museum is open from 10 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m. however, on slow days it may close early. It is open Thursday through Sunday and closed Monday through Wednesday.

“The main purpose of the Museum gift shop is to raise money,” Hubbard said.

The Mountain Life Gift Shop opened up in 1943 and there have been very little changes to it, Hubbard said.

There is no general admission fee to be in the park. However, there is an admission fee to tour the Museums.
